Emmis Interactive's heritage is rooted in the radio industry where we successfully incubated for five years. We formed in early 2002 with the goal of building a profitable interactive division for Emmis Communications. While leading the Radio Division's digital efforts to a profitable multi-million dollar a year franchise, we tested and fine-tuned a successful and scalable advertising sales model.
In 2006, as the local interactive market matured and local media companies began experiencing revenue growth from interactive/non-spot sales, Emmis Interactive identified an ever growing challenge for local broadcasters: whether to build the required technology infrastructure to support this growing part of their business or to license it.
In April 2008, Emmis Interactive became a separate, wholly owned subsidiary of Emmis Communications. Our focus has been on leveraging our products and services to non-Emmis clients. Today, we service over 135 media brands.
The number one reason broadcasters or publishers choose to work with Emmis Interactive is because we have a proven and reliable track record for assisting our clients in building profitable interactive businesses. Over the years, the Emmis Interactive staff has trained over 2,000+ media sales professionals. Our sales approach to Interactive has also been incorporated into the Radio Advertising Bureau's sales training curriculum.
To compete in today's competitive advertising environment, it is important that media companies transform their organizations into integrated multi-platform sales organizations. Our mission is to empower them with the technology and skills required to achieve this goal.
As a result, Emmis Interactive's technology platform combined with our expertise and experience in integrated sales has consistently delivered a positive ROI for our customers within the first 12 months.
A challenge facing broadcasters today is how to provide their company with the knowledge and technology to stay competitive in a fast moving marketplace. While building an in-house system has always been an option, many broadcasters today understand the challenges that come with this approach - from ongoing capital investment to technology staffing to scalability and most importantly, speed to market. Emmis Interactive provides broadcasters with a way to leverage a scalable technology platform that is in a constant state of development.
Our Engineering and Quality Assurance team is actively developing new features and services that are regularly added to our content management system, BaseStationÆ. With four (4) major product releases a year, our clients are assured of having a competitive technology platform without incurring the sizable cost of developing similar products/features in-house.
Emmis Interactive is based in Chicago. The team is comprised of 61 employees, which include: Product Designers, Software Engineers, Quality Assurance, Graphic Designers/Animators, Systems Personnel, Customer Service/Tech Support, Product Training, Marketing and Direct Sales.
